Job summary

JBS Pork Australia – Farming Team is recruiting a Technical Officer to support the team based at our Huntly site. This full-time role will collect research data across nutrition, behaviour, welfare, health, reproduction, genetics and meat quality.

You will coordinate livestock research, perform daily husbandry tasks, ensure protocol compliance and accurately capture data, with travel to other sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Agriculture/Animal Science or experience in animal research/production.
• Positive attitude with interest in animal research, production and new technology.
• Effective communication and organisational skills; able to work in a team.
• Good fitness for the physical nature of the position.
• Willingness to work flexible hours.
• Current Driver's Licence; medical including drug screen as part of recruitment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and conduct livestock research.
• Undertake daily animal husbandry tasks including feeding, live weight assessment and monitoring of health and welfare.
• Compliance with research protocol guidelines, animal welfare and ethics and WHS.
• Accurately capture research data.
• Willingness to travel to other sites to perform duties as reasonably required.

Skills & Experience

• Degree or Diploma in Agriculture, Animal Science (or related field), or experience in animal research/animal production
• A positive attitude with an interest in animal research, production and new technology
• Effective communication & organisational skills as well a desire to work in a team environment.
• A sound degree of fitness to cope with the physical nature of the position
• A preparedness to work flexible hours
