Job summary

JBS Pork Australia – Farming Team is recruiting a Technical Officer to support the Huntly site in Victoria. You will collect research data across nutrition, behaviour, welfare, health, reproduction, genetics and meat quality on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities include coordinating livestock research, daily husbandry, data capture, and ensuring compliance with ethics and WHS standards; travel to other sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Agriculture, Animal Science (or related field).
• Previous livestock experience.
• Interest in animal research, production and new technology.
• Effective communication & organisational skills.
• Intermediate computer skills.
• Sound degree of fitness for the physical nature of the position.
• Preparedness to work flexible hours.
• Current Driver's Licence.

About the Role

JBS Pork Australia – Farming Team is currently recruiting a Technical Officer to support the team based at our Huntly site.

This full-time position will be responsible for collecting research data in the areas of nutrition, behaviour, welfare, health, reproduction, genetics and meat quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and conduct livestock research
• Undertake daily animal husbandry tasks including feeding, live weight assessment and monitoring of animal health and welfare
• Compliance with research protocol guidelines, animal welfare and ethics and WHS
• Accurately capture research data
• Willingness to participate in travel to other sites to perform duties as reasonably required.

Skills & Experience

• Degree or Diploma in Agriculture, Animal Science (or related field), or experience in animal research/animal production
• Previous livestock experience
• A positive attitude with an interest in animal research, production and new technology
• Effective communication & organisational skills as well a desire to work in a team environment.
• Intermediate computer skills
• A sound degree of fitness to cope with the physical nature of the position
• A preparedness to work flexible hours
• A current Driver's Licence
