Job summary

JBS Pork Australia are recruiting an Engineering Manager based at our Corowa site (NSW), reporting to the Manager - Progeny Systems. This senior role leads maintenance and engineering strategies to keep farming facilities safe, compliant and aligned with animal welfare goals.

You will develop preventive maintenance programs, manage R&M and capex budgets, and guide a team including site managers, trades and production staff while driving continuous improvement and successful commissioning of new

Qualifications

• Mechanical/Structural Engineering degree; Electrical engineering background considered.
• Experience with controlled ventilation facilities for intensive animal production is an advantage.
• Maintenance management knowledge and qualifications are an advantage.
• High-risk activities oversight (working at heights, confined space, electrical and gas regs) required.
• Proven ability to lead, manage and motivate staff.
• Ability to plan, organise and control projects and maintenance activities to optimise resources.
• Strong communication, initiative and attention to detail; NSW/VIC OH&S knowledge.
• Valid driver’s license and White Card.

Responsibilities

• Lead maintenance and engineering strategy to ensure farming facilities are safe, compliant, and support animal welfare outcomes.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs across all sites, with systems to track compliance.
• Ensure regulatory compliance for electrical, gas, and safety requirements.
• Oversee maintenance systems of work, focusing on preventing critical equipment failures (generators, water pumps, automation systems).
• Provide technical leadership and support to Site Managers, Supervisors, trades, and production teams.
• Manage maintenance budgets (R&M and capital), including planning, cost control, and long-term forecasting.
• Lead commissioning and onboarding of new facilities, ensuring effective maintenance integration from day one.
• Drive continuous improvement by identifying root causes of failures and implementing engineering solutions.
• Manage capital projects end-to-end, including scoping, design, approvals, delivery, and performance review.
• Oversee contractor management, ensuring safety, cost-effectiveness, and biosecurity compliance.
• Monitor and develop maintenance team capability, including coaching and performance management.
• Ensure effective communication, reporting, and alignment with production, while responding to urgent maintenance issues as required.

About the Role

JBS Pork Australia are currently recruiting an Engineering Manager. Based at our Corowa site (NSW), reporting to the Manager - Progeny Systems, this is a senior leadership position within the maintenance team. The position provides strong engineering solutions and systems of work to maintain farming facilities in safe working conditions and drive continuous improvement through facility upgrades.

Farming facilities are varied and include, but are not limited to, pig housing, feed systems/silos, effluent systems (including some biogas systems), gas and electrical equipment (including critical generators, PLCs, feed control systems and automation).

About You:

The ideal candidate will have:

• Mechanical/Structural Engineering Degree. Electrical Engineer with relevant experience would also be considered.
• Working knowledge of controlled ventilation facilities for intensive animal production an advantage.
• A thorough understanding of maintenance work management practices, qualifications in maintenance management will be an advantage.
• Clear understanding and competency in overseeing high risk activities (working at heights, confined space, electrical and gas regulations)
• Proven ability to lead, manage and motivate staff.
• The ability to plan, organise and control project and maintenance activities to optimise the use of available resources.
• High level communication skills, initiative and strong attention to detail.
• Sound knowledge of OH&S regulations in NSW and VIC.
• Preparedness to work flexible hours.
• Valid drivers license.
• White Card.
