Job summary

Port Macquarie-Hastings Council is seeking an experienced Technical Officer to join the On-Site Sewage Management team in Port Macquarie-Hastings. You will inspect onsite systems, assess applications under the Local Government Act, and provide expert advice to residents and staff while acting on pollution incidents as needed.

You will work across the Port Macquarie-Hastings region, contributing to environmental and public health. A 35-hour week with salary progression and benefits is offered.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Technical Officer or similar in environmental health or water/ sewerage regulation.
• Ability to interpret legislation, guidelines and consultant reports.
• Strong customer service and community health focus.

Responsibilities

• Undertake routine inspections of On-Site Sewage Management systems.
• Assess and determine applications under the Local Government Act.
• Interpret consultant reports and provide professional advice to residents and staff.
• Investigate pollution incidents and respond to complaints with regulatory action when required.

To help us achieve this, we require an experienced Technical Officer to join our On-Site Sewage Management team. You will work across our amazing region whilst protecting the environment and the health of our residents within the Port Macquarie-Hastings LGA. As part of our team, you will keep our customers and the health of the community at the forefront of your duties to ensure public and environmental health is protected.

On a typical day, our Technical Officer - On-Site Sewage Management will:

• Undertake routine inspections of On-Site Sewage Management systems
• Assess and determine applications under the Local Government Act.
• Use technical expertise to analyse and interpret consultant reports, legislation and guidelines to provide professional advice to residents and staff.
• Investigate pollution incidents and respond to complaints, taking appropriate regulatory action when required.
• Conduct themselves in accordance with Council's values-based behaviours.

Remuneration And Benefits

Employment Type: Full time, Permanent 35 hours per week

Salary (exclusive of super): Starting in the range of $80,812 to $90,454 depending on skills and experience

Opportunity for performance based increases available after 12 months.

This role also qualifies for a Leaseback or Vehicle allowance
