Job summary

Port Macquarie-Hastings Council in NSW seeks a Technical Officer – On-Site Sewage Management to support our On-Site Sewage Management team across the Port Macquarie-Hastings region. You will inspect systems, assess applications under the Local Government Act, and provide technical advice to residents and staff to protect public and environmental health.

The role is full-time (35 hours weekly) with hybrid working and opportunities for development.

Qualifications

• Experience in On-Site Sewage Management or similar environmental health role.
• Ability to interpret legislation and guidelines and provide professional advice.
• Strong communication with residents and staff to resolve issues and ensure compliance.

Responsibilities

• Undertake routine inspections of On-Site Sewage Management systems.
• Assess and determine applications under the Local Government Act.
• Analyse consultant reports, legislation and guidelines to provide professional advice.
• Investigate pollution incidents and respond to complaints with regulatory action when required.
• Adhere to Council's values-based behaviours.

Technical Officer On Site Sewage Management

You will work across our amazing region whilst protecting the environment and the health of our residentswithin the Port Macquarie-Hastings LGA. As part of our team, you will keep ourcustomers and the health of the community at the forefront of your duties toensure public and environmental health is protected.

On a typical day, our Technical Officer - On-Site SewageManagement will:

• Undertake routineinspections of On-Site Sewage Management systems
• Assess and determineapplications under the Local Government Act.
• Use technical expertiseto analyse and interpret consultant reports, legislation and guidelines toprovide professional advice to residents and staff.
• Investigate pollutionincidents and respond to complaints, taking appropriate regulatory actionwhen required.
• Conduct themselves inaccordance with Council's values-based behaviours.

Remuneration and Benefits

Employment Type: Full time, Permanent 35 hours perweek

Salary (exclusive of super): Starting in the range of $80,812 to $90,454 depending on skills and experience

Opportunity for performance based increases available after 12 months.
