Job summary

Qualifications

• This technical position requires an AQF Level 5 qualification or equivalent work experience.
• Experience as a technical officer contributing to technical outcomes, including risk analysis and reporting.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to work with stakeholders.
• Ability to operate within a Technical Regulatory Framework and Defence standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide maintenance and support advice or testing services to capability systems.
• Investigate and expose risks, analyse technical issues, and develop recommendations.
• Build and sustain positive relationships within the team and with stakeholders.

Job description

The Technical Officer contributes technical advice or test services within a small team and ensures that the capability being supported is safe, fit for purpose and environmentally compliant by providing timely and accurate technical advice to key stakeholders.

About our Team

Land Systems Division’s (LSD) mission is to acquire and support capability that enables the ADF to generate and sustain deployable Land power for an integrated force, in peace and war. We aim to be agile, innovative and outcomes-focussed as we collaborate closely with the Services and industry to deliver the latest equipment to maximise ADF performance.

The Land Engineering Agency (LEA), as part of CASG, supports various Projects and Systems Program Offices (SPO) to ensure successful technical outcomes of Defence acquisition and in-service support of land materiel. LEA provides services in engineering, testing, design and development, technical data and configuration management across the Defence Capability Life Cycle.

Our Ideal Candidate

The ideal person for this role will be a Technical Officer capable of providing maintenance and support advice or testing services to Australian Defence Force capability systems. Candidates are sought from across all disciplines/specialties, in particular: Electrical/Electronics, Mechanical/Materials, Mechatronics, Automotive, Communications, Systems Engineering, Textiles, Biomedical, Chemical, Aerospace, Weapons, Petroleum Operations, Mechanical Drafting, Test and Evaluation and Reliability Engineering.

The successful candidate will:

• Meet the mandatory qualifications in relevant technical domain or relevant skills
• Have experience working as a technical officer with a proven track record of contributing to technical outcomes, including investigating and exposing risks, analysing and reporting on technical issues, requirements, and develop and implement recommendations and advice
• Build and sustain positive relationships with team members, actively participate in team work
• Have sound written and oral communication skills
• Have experience working within a Technical Regulatory Framework (or similar).

Security Clearance

Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at "Negative Vetting Level 1".

Mandatory Qualifications

This technical position requires the individual to have obtained a recognised Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Level 5 qualification, in a relevant technical domain or relevant skills and work experience such that an individual can reasonably achieve a recognised AQF qualification if required by the position.
