Job summary

Mapei Australia in Melbourne is seeking a Technical Services Manager to lead the technical services function across Underground and Civil Infrastructure product lines, ensuring effective support, governance and successful project outcomes.

You will manage a team, provide technical trainings, collaborate with R&D to improve formulations, engage with regulators, and travel as needed to support customers and projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Materials or Construction/Civil Engineering or a technical field.
• Registered Engineer (RPEQ/APER) would be beneficial, not essential.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role within an industrial multinational context.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
• Proven experience in project management.
• Willingness to travel.
• Proven leadership and teamwork abilities with strong relationship-building.
• Strong drive for excellence with ability to plan, prioritise and allocate resources.
• Proven problem-solving skills with proactive, adaptable approach.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support before and after sales to the Sales Dept., coordinating with Product Managers and R&D.
• Provide technical trainings to Sales Dept., customers, applicators and technicians.
• Edit and update technical documentation and packaging for Marketing.
• Collaborate with R&D to improve formulations and develop new products.
• Engage with construction regulators and institutions to stay informed on laws/regulations.
• Lead and develop the Technical Services team, including recruitment and performance management.
• Participate in trade fairs, seminars and workshops.
• Coordinate with Corporate Quality Management to handle claims and customer complaints.

About the Opportunity

Mapei is looking for a Technical Services Manager to lead the technical services function across the Underground and Civil Infrastructure product lines, ensuring effective technical support, department capability development, technical governance, and successful project and customer outcomes.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Provides technical support before and after sales to Sales Dept., collaborating closely with the Product Managers and R&D Department
• Provides technical trainings to Sales Dept. Product Managers, customers, applicators and technicians
• Is responsible and ensures a continuous technical update and improvement by editing and integrating the technical documentation and packaging, providing it to Marketing department
• Collaborates with the R&D department to improve the formulation of already existing products and to develop new ones to promptly satisfy market needs
• Joins meetings with the construction regulation authorities and institutional organizations in order to be updated on specific laws and regulations related to the construction market
• Manages, supervises and develops the Technical Services team under his/her responsibility and is involved in recruitment and performance management processes in collaboration with the local HR department and with the Corporate or Regional Technical Services department
• Participates in trade fairs and technical seminars and workshops
• Cooperates with the Corporate Quality Management Department to manage claims in alignment with the internal, local and Corporate procedures. Collaborates with Sales department to solve customers’ technical complaints, ensuring an effective and timely resolution.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Materials or Construction/Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a Technical field
• Registered Engineer (RPEQ/APER) would be beneficial, not essential
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role of an industrial company, better in a multinational environment
• Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
• Proven experience in project management
• Willingness to travel
• Proven leadership and teamwork ability. Ability to build effective relationships both internally and externally
• Solid drive for excellence and result, guaranteeing at the same time work quality and accuracy. Demonstrated ability to organise the work, to set priorities and to determine resources and timing to achieve efficiently the goals
