Job summary

Department of Transport and Main Roads QLD, through RoadTek in Nerang, seeks a Technical Manager ITS & E to lead technical training and workforce capability across Queensland. You will design programs, assess skills, and support electrical apprentices while upholding safety and technical standards.

You will provide ITS & E expertise, govern Safe Systems of Work, chair statewide groups, and travel as needed to ensure compliant learning and safe electrical practices.

Qualifications

  • Electrical Licence or equivalent acceptable to the Director-General
  • White or Blue Card and a valid Queensland C class driver licence
  • Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment
  • ACMA accreditation and Authorised Persons Accreditation are desirable

Responsibilities

Job description

Department of Transport and Main Roads QLD – Nerang QLD

Join RoadTek in Nerang as a Technical Manager - Intelligent Transport Systems and Electrical (ITS & E) and play a key role in building the capability of our statewide electrical workforce. You’ll develop and deliver technical training, conduct workforce skills assessments and support electrical apprentices, while providing expert ITS & Electrical advice across the organisation.

You’ll also oversee Safe Systems of Work and help strengthen safety, compliance and technical standards across RoadTek. Bring your electrical infrastructure expertise and commitment to quality outcomes to a role that supports smart, safe and connected roads across Queensland.

As Technical Manager ITS & E, you will develop and deliver technical training programs and conduct workforce skills assessments for RoadTek's electrical field staff across Queensland. You will identify training needs, develop and maintain training modules and resources, facilitate training sessions and evaluate training outcomes to ensure employees have the skills and competencies required to perform their roles safely and effectively.

You will provide training and support to electrical apprentices, manage training schedules and resources, and undertake skills assessments. You will also oversee the development and governance of Safe Systems of Work, support effective hazard and risk identification, chair and participate in statewide working groups, and provide expert ITS & Electrical advice to support legislative, workplace health and safety and electrical safety obligations. Some statewide travel is required.

About you:

To thrive in this role, you will bring strong knowledge and experience in electrical infrastructure procedures, systems and methodologies, combined with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to a range of audiences. You will be organised, focused on delivering quality outcomes and confident in identifying capability gaps and developing effective learning solutions.

An Electrical Licence, or other qualification acceptable to the Director-General, is required or must be obtained within a designated timeframe. You will also require a White or Blue Card and a valid Queensland C class driver licence or equivalent. A Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment, Authorised Persons Accreditation and ACMA accreditation are desirable.
