Job summary

TheDriveGroup is seeking an experienced technical lead to own a product area within an enterprise-scale environment. You will work closely with product, engineering, and senior stakeholders to shape the roadmap, while guiding a small team of engineers and ensuring the product evolves with a strong AI component.

You'll lead architectural decisions, mentor engineers, and stay hands-on enough to contribute to code and technical direction, balancing depth with business outcomes.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience building modern web applications using React and Node.js.
• Hands-on leadership of engineers with a track record of delivering in fast-paced environments.
• Strong understanding of modern software architecture and design patterns.
• Experience applying AI concepts in product or engineering contexts.

The role

You'll take ownership of a product area and work closely with product, engineering and senior stakeholders to shape where it goes next. What we're looking for:

You'll be an experienced technical lead who enjoys having genuine ownership and responsibility.

You should tick most of these boxes:

• Strong commercial experience with React, Node.js and ideally AWS
• Previous experience leading or mentoring engineers
• A strong understanding of modern software architecture
• Hands on experience with AI
• The ability to balance technical depth with product and business considerations

You'll have real ownership, a strong team around you and the opportunity to work on products where AI is becoming a core part of what the business does.

This is a Melbourne based role on a hybrid arrangement (3 days in the office). If you need a visa takeover, we can support this for very strong applicants, but you must live in Australia.
