Job summary

NES Fircroft is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer for a large-scale renewable energy development in Western Australia, based in Perth with occasional site travel. The role focuses on technical leadership across HV infrastructure, substations, protection and grid connection activities as the project moves toward energisation in early 2027.

This is a hands-on technical authority role, not a people-management position, requiring deep experience in generation, transmission and major project

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified Electrical Engineer.
• Extensive experience delivering generation, transmission, mining, utilities or renewable energy projects.
• Strong background in HV systems, substations, protection and power systems.
• Experience managing HV submissions and compliance approvals.
• Proven involvement through construction, commissioning and energisation phases.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical direction across HV infrastructure, substations, protection systems, grid connection requirements, commissioning and energisation activities.
• Challenge assumptions, simplify complex problems and make sound engineering decisions where it matters most.
• Collaborate with engineering, construction personnel and contractors to ensure technical integrity of the project.
• Act as the principal technical authority on electrical engineering matters for the project.
