Job summary

Talent International is recruiting a Senior Software Engineer for a fast-growing Australian fintech/payments technology company. You will influence architecture, review code and mentor engineers while remaining hands-on, delivering production-grade features across the stack.

The role splits ~50/50 between hands-on development and driving engineering excellence, with hybrid Sydney CBD work and collaboration with founders, product and design teams to scale the platform.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Senior Software Engineer, Staff Engineer or Technical Lead.
• Strong backend engineering expertise, ideally within Python-based environments.
• Excellent CS fundamentals including software design, algorithms and data structures.
• Experience designing and building scalable production systems.
• Strong code review and technical leadership capability.
• Comfortable influencing technical direction and challenging ideas constructively.
• Experience working in high-performing engineering environments.
• Passion for leveraging AI tools to improve software development productivity and quality.

Responsibilities

This is an opportunity to join a high-performing engineering team where you'll have genuine influence over technical direction, product decisions and engineering standards while remaining deeply hands‑on.

Role Title: Senior Software Engineer

Location + WFH Flexibility: Sydney CBD | Hybrid Working (2 days in office)

As a senior member of the engineering team, you will play a key role in shaping architecture, reviewing code, mentoring engineers and delivering high-quality software across a modern technology stack.

This is a hands‑on technical leadership role where you'll spend approximately 50% of your time building software and 50% of your time driving engineering excellence through collaboration, design reviews and technical decision‑making.

Working closely with founders, product and engineering teams, you'll have the opportunity to solve complex technical challenges while helping scale a platform used by leading retail and consumer brands.
