Job summary

TheDriveGroup in Melbourne is seeking a Technical Lead to guide a small team of engineers and set the technical direction for a core area of our customer-facing product. You will shape architecture, contribute to implementation, and unblock challenging problems.

You will own delivery across full-stack tech, with emphasis on React, TypeScript, Node.js and AWS, and collaborate closely with Product to balance short-term delivery with long-term architectural goals.

Qualifications

• Strong end to end full-stack engineering experience.
• Experience owning or contributing significantly to architecture and technical direction.
• Previous experience leading and managing engineers.
• Strong understanding of AI implementation and scalable systems.
• Strong product instincts and ability to understand the commercial context behind technical decisions.
• Ability to challenge, influence and collaborate with Product and Engineering stakeholders.

Technical Lead | Typescript & AI | Melbourne

We’re looking for a people focused Technical Lead to join a growing and well known scale up in Melbourne and lead a small team of talented software engineers. This is a role for someone who wants to stay close to technology, but who has a real interest in their team and seeing people succeed.

You’ll take ownership of a core area of a customer facing product, working across engineering and product to shape what gets built, how it gets built and where the platform needs to go next. You’ll provide technical direction, get involved in architecture and implementation, and step in when your team hits a difficult problem or needs unblocking.

You’ll ideally bring:

• Strong end to end full-stack engineering experience
• Experience working with React, TypeScript, Node.js and AWS (this should be your preferred and most experienced stack)
• Experience owning or contributing significantly to architecture and technical direction
• Previous experience leading and managing engineers.
• A strong understanding of modern software engineering practices, AI implementation and scalable systems
• Strong product instincts and an ability to understand the commercial context behind technical decisions
• The confidence to challenge, influence and collaborate with Product and Engineering stakeholders
• A genuine interest in developing people and building high-performing teams

You’ll be joining a well established scale up with a significant product, an ambitious roadmap and plenty of opportunity to make an impact. The role is based from the company’s Melbourne office on a hybrid basis.
