Job summary

GHD Pty Ltd in Perth seeks a Senior Technical Director – Electrical (HV) to lead electrical engineering direction for major transmission and generation projects across Western Australia. You will guide concept and detailed designs, perform Owner’s Engineer reviews, and provide strategic technical leadership across battery storage, wind, solar and conventional generation.

Qualifications

• Degree in electrical engineering required.
• CPEng status or active progression towards it.
• Substantial HV engineering experience, preferably in engineering consulting or power utility.
• Broad HV experience with substations and transmission infrastructure.
• Sound engineering judgement with senior technical input on complex power projects.
• Ability to communicate complex engineering matters clearly to clients.
• Collaborative technical leadership and mentoring with focus on quality, safety, budget and schedule.

Responsibilities

• Guide transmission engineering within multidisciplinary power projects across Australia.
• Lead substation primary and/or secondary design scopes on substation projects.
• Develop concept designs for major generation and transmission infrastructure.
• Review electrical engineering packages for renewable energy, storage and conventional generation projects under Owner’s Engineer arrangements.
• Provide technical direction, design QA, and senior technical support.
• Present designs and technical outcomes in client workshops.
• Act as Project Director or Design Manager on complex electrical utility design projects.
• Contribute to bids and client submissions where appropriate.
• Mentor mid-level and early-career engineers.
