Job summary

GHD seeks a Technical Director – Electrical (HV) in Perth to lead high‑voltage power projects, guiding transmission and generation fronts and reviewing Owner’s Engineer packages for BESS, wind, solar and conventional generation.

In this senior role you’ll move between concept design, technical review and QA, mentor engineers, and collaborate with clients to deliver safe, on‑time, and budget‑conscious outcomes across Australia’s energy transition.

Qualifications

• A degree in electrical engineering or a relevant engineering discipline.
• Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or active progression towards achieving it.
• Substantial relevant industry experience in engineering consulting or power utilities.
• Broad high voltage engineering experience with substations and transmission infrastructure.
• Strong ability to communicate complex engineering matters clearly and to work with clients.

Responsibilities

• Guide transmission engineering within multidisciplinary power projects across Australia.
• Lead substation primary and/or secondary design scopes on substation projects.
• Develop concept designs for major generation and transmission infrastructure.
• Review electrical engineering packages for renewable energy, storage and conventional generation Owner’s Engineer projects.
• Provide technical direction, design QA and senior technical support.
• Present designs and technical outcomes in client workshops.
• Act as Project Director or Design Manager on complex electrical utility design projects.
• Contribute to bids and proposals and coordinate submissions.
