Job summary

RailBays is seeking a Chartered Civil Engineer (CPEng) with Victorian registration to lead the bridges and civil structures team on major rail projects in Victoria and interstate.

You will drive design across rail, road, buildings and energy sectors, with opportunities to support programs in other states. Strong bid leadership and client networking are essential.

Qualifications

• Chartered Civil Engineer with Victoria registration (RPEV) is required.
• Experience across ANZ market, especially VIC bridge engineering.
• Proven ability to lead bids and build client networks.
• Strong communication and deadline-driven performance.

Responsibilities

• Lead civil structures design packages and mentor the team.
• Produce structural designs for bridges, culverts and retaining walls.
• Interpret design intent sketches from project engineers.
• Work on road and rail bridge projects from inspection to detailed design.
• Ensure compliance with modelling and drawing standards.

Full Job Description

Due to an increase in workload across major rail projects in Victoria and interstate, we are recruiting for a lead engineer in the bridges and civil structures team who can drive exceptional project outcomes for our clients. The team you will join is supporting a number of city-shaping projects in Victoria including rail, road, buildings and energy, and you will also have the opportunity to support programs of work in other states around Australia.

In this role you will be responsible for

• Leading civil structures design packages and providing leadership to the wider civil structures team, including line management.
• Production of structural designs for civil elements such as bridges, culverts, retaining walls and minor structures.
• Interpreting design intent sketches provided by the project engineers.
• Work on a range of both road and rail bridge commissions, ranging from inspection and assessment work to feasibility studies and detailed design. Experience of a range of bridge engineering solutions.
• Complying with company and project-specific modelling and drawing standards.
• Leading design packages including design, calculations, report writing, risk assessments, stakeholder engagement and stakeholder engagement.

About you

• Chartered Civil Engineer (CPEng) with Professional Registration in Victoria (RPEV)
• Strong communication skills and ability to work under pressure to meet competing deadlines.
• Having a willingness to drive bidding for work, either as pursuits or tenders as well as build a network and leverage to increase project opportunities
• Experience of working in ANZ and particularly the VIC bridge engineering market and involvement in the full project lifecycle, including budget/finance control.
