Job summary

Mincka Engineering Pty Ltd seeks a front-end commercial lead in Central Queensland to qualify and convert opportunities, bridging site teams and engineers. You will own the pipeline, maintain client relationships, and ensure scoping is accurate for engineers to deliver.

You will draw on a background in CHPP repair, with boilermaker/fitter experience, and strong ties to operators like Glencore, BMA, Anglo American and Peabody to win work.

Qualifications

• Candidate has come up through CHPP repair tools as a boilermaker or fitter and progressed to supervision or service engineering backgrounds.
• Experience in the Basin with live relationships to operators and maintenance/engineering teams.
• Able to discuss both technical scope and commercial outcomes with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Find work and identify coming plants and shifts, and understand client concerns.
• Qualify opportunities and filter genuine opportunities from tyre-kicking.
• Convert opportunities by reaching decisions and securing orders.
• Sit with site teams, walk plants, and complete scoping templates for engineers.
• Hand over scope to the engineering team and address client questions post-scoping.
• Maintain an honest CRM pipeline to inform resourcing decisions.

Job description

You will own the front end of the business in Central Queensland. You will find the work by knowing which plants are due, which shuts are coming, and who is worried about what. You will qualify opportunities, sorting real opportunities from tyre kicking before engineers spend time on them. You will convert opportunities by getting to the decision and getting the order. You will capture the need by sitting with the site team, walking the plant, and filling out the scoping template properly so engineers know exactly what is being asked. You will hand over scope to the engineering team, who write and issue the formal scope to the client. You will field practical questions by phone after the scope lands, and send anything back to the drawing board when the client needs it changed. You will keep the pipeline honest in the CRM so the business can plan resourcing against it.

About you

Came up through the tools in the CHPP repair arena as a boilermaker, fitter, or similar

Became a supervisor and are ready to step across into the commercial side, or have a service engineer background

Already in the Basin and already connected with site induction, currently active, and holding live relationships with maintenance and engineering people at operators such as Glencore, BMA, Anglo American and Peabody

Credible in two rooms: can stand in a wash plant talking to a crew about a corroded chute, and can sit in front of a maintenance superintendent or contracts manager and talk commercially
