Job summary

BHP in Australia is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for the Hay Point Coal Terminal to support asset integrity, engineering standards, drawings, systems and procedures, ensuring accurate documentation and effective change control.

You will work with discipline engineers, deliver improvement initiatives, generate designs and reports, and maintain safety, operability and maintainability across the design lifecycle while building relationships with suppliers and contractors.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Engineering; CPEng or RPEQ status advantageous.
• Experience in Coal, mining or heavy industry.
• Exposure to HV/LV drives & distribution, Process Control Instrumentation, PLC hardware & configuration.
• Brownfield equipment installations and in-service repair scope development.
• Technical input to design and project execution with safety leadership.
• Strong communication and engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Governs and controls asset integrity through improvement initiatives.
• Participates in reviews and audits with discipline engineers across BMA.

About The Role

This full-time, residential role based at Hay Point Coal Terminal supports the integrity of the operation’s engineering standards, drawings, systems and procedures, ensuring accurate documentation, effective change control, and specialist electrical engineering support. In this role, you will:

• Govern and control the asset integrity of the operation through identification and implementation of improvement initiatives
• Participate in reviews and audits and collaborate with discipline engineers across BMA
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to solve complex problems
• Develop and contribute to the delivery of improvement initiatives which support business priorities for continuous improvement
• Generate and review designs, technical assessments and reports to communicate requirements
• Establish and maintain close working relationships with relevant departments, suppliers, consultants and contractors
• Support the integrated delivery of projects by the site Engineering team, asset projects or major projects group as required
• Contribute to the development of the site's five year capital and operational budgets
• Ensure Safety, Constructability, Operability and Maintainability is preserved throughout the design lifecycle process

About You

• Tertiary qualifications in Engineering with CPEng or RPEQ status advantageous
• Solid understanding of Electrical Engineering principles and previous exposure in Coal, mining or heavy industry
• Exposure to a variety of areas including HV/LV drives & distribution, Process Control Instrumentation, PLC hardware & configuration, Hazardous areas and heavy industrial troubleshooting and maintenance
• Experience with brownfield equipment installations and In-service repair scope development
• Demonstrated experience in providing technical input to design and project execution, with an overarching drive for safety leadership
• Well-developed communication and engagement skills with an interest in providing technical leadership, stewardship, support and solutions
• Attention to detail and finely tuned problem solving skills
