Are you a Business Analyst who enjoys solving problems, improving processes and working at the intersection of business and technology?

LegalStream is looking for a Technical Business Analyst to join our technology team and help improve the systems and processes that support our lending, mortgage documentation, settlement and post-settlement services.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll work with business stakeholders, technology teams and offshore delivery teams to understand needs, investigate issues, deliver system improvements and support projects from requirements through to implementation.

About LegalStream

LegalStream is an Australian-owned business providing specialist lending, mortgage documentation, settlement and post-settlement services to clients across Australia. We work closely with lenders, legal professionals and other industry partners to deliver efficient, technology-enabled solutions. Our Sydney-based team works alongside our offshore delivery teams, with a strong focus on service, collaboration and continuous improvement.

About the Role

You’ll play an important role in connecting our business and technology teams. You’ll help turn business needs into practical solutions, improve workflows and make sure system changes are properly tested, implemented and supported.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Working with stakeholders to understand processes, identify issues and find practical improvements.
  • Analysing lending, mortgage documentation, settlement and post-settlement workflows.
  • Mapping current and future-state processes and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce manual handling.
  • Preparing functional specifications, workflow designs, data mappings and integration requirements.
  • Using SQL and Excel to investigate issues, validate data and support problem-solving.
  • Working with developers, vendors and application specialists to deliver system changes.
  • Developing and executing functional, integration and regression testing and supporting UAT.
  • Investigating defects and incidents, supporting root cause analysis and validating solutions.
  • Preparing documentation, user guides and handover materials.
  • Identifying opportunities for automation and the appropriate use of AI tools.
About You

You’ll be a practical and analytical Business Analyst who enjoys understanding how things work and finding ways to make them better.

You’ll ideally have:

  • 2+ years’ experience in a Business Analyst or similar role within lending, loan servicing, conveyancing, settlement services or a related environment.
  • A good understanding of lending, settlement and post-settlement processes.
  • Experience gathering requirements, process mapping and supporting system changes and testing.
  • Basic SQL skills and working knowledge of Excel for data investigation and validation.
  • An understanding of APIs, data mapping and integrations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with both business and technical teams.
  • Experience with Australian lenders or settlement providers, Actionstep, PEXA, loan systems, LIXI, document generation or workflow automation would be highly regarded.
What We Offer
  • Hybrid working with a combination of office and work-from-home days.
  • A collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • The opportunity to work across a broad range of business systems and technology projects.
  • Exposure to both Australian and offshore teams and stakeholders.
  • A role where your ideas and improvements can have a direct impact on the business.
  • Opportunities to develop
