Job summary

Boral Limited is seeking an experienced Technical & Quality Manager to lead our quarry product services across Victoria. You will oversee mix designs, product performance and KPI reporting while mentoring a small team of Technical Specialists in a dynamic, safety-focused environment.

You will coordinate with production and sales teams, manage NATA registrations, and travel across sites to optimise raw materials and product development.

Qualifications

• Diploma or certificate in Surface Extraction is desirable.
• Advanced knowledge of quarry products, materials and production, including plant configurations and processing capability.
• Experience managing mix designs, ITPs and product compliance within a NATA accredited environment.
• Commercial acumen: understanding cost of production relative to selling price.
• Strong leadership with staff mentoring and development.
• Ability to influence and manage projects with multiple stakeholders.
• Proficiency with QestMix, QestLab and Command will be highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Full responsibility for Victoria’s Technical Services across quarry operations.
• Lead and mentor a small team of Technical Specialists and provide hands-on guidance.
• Manage quarry product and mix designs, including registrations with NATA and regulators.
• Provide technical support to pit planning and management and optimise raw material sources.
• Increase yields and optimise products using underutilised materials and support new product development.
• Develop and maintain Inspection and Test Plans; manage compliance and corrective actions.
• Manage customer complaints and provide technical reporting including product data sheets.
• Conduct tender and contract reviews covering specs, nominations and material risk.
• Lead value-improvement projects delivering cost savings or revenue growth.
• Travel frequently across Victoria to supervise key functions.

Job description

Your next opportunity:

We have a rare and exciting opportunity for an experienced Technical & Quality Manager to lead and represent Boral’s quarry product services across Victoria.

You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our quarry supply including mix design, performance, market acceptance, sourcing and implementing innovative solutions to meet customer demands and projects. Your well-developed leadership skills will assist you in mentoring and developing a small, dedicated team.

You will also lead and direct regional quality activities including KPI metrics, measurement, reporting and following up actions.

Your day will involve:

• Full responsibility and autonomy for Victoria’s Technical Services department across our quarry operations
• Leading, mentoring and developing a small team of Technical Specialists, and providing hands on technical guidance to our production and sales teams
• Managing quarry product and mix designs, including product registrations with NATA and the relevant regulatory authorities
• Providing technical support to pit planning and pit management, and identifying opportunities to optimise raw material sources
• Increasing yields of key driver products, optimising crushed rock and blended products through the use of underutilised materials, and supporting new product development
• Developing and maintaining Inspection and Test Plans, and managing product compliance and non-conformance investigations through to corrective action
• Managing customer complaints as a priority, and providing customer technical reporting including product data sheets and NATA endorsed reports
• Conducting technical reviews of tenders and contracts, covering specifications, product nominations, material optimisation and risk
• Identifying and leading value improvement projects that deliver cost savings, efficiency gains or revenue growth, and reporting on the benefits delivered
• Frequent travel to sites located across Victoria to oversee key functions

What Are We Looking For?

• Proven experience within the quarrying, concrete or civil construction industry or similar (Diploma or relevant certificate in in Surface Extraction desirable)
• Advanced technical knowledge of quarry products, materials and production, including plant configurations and processing capability
• Experience managing mix designs, Inspection and Test Plans and product compliance within a NATA accredited environment
• Commercial acumen, including an understanding of how cost of production relates to the selling price of individual products
• Strong leadership attributes including people management skills, passion and drive to mentor and develop staff
• Ability to manage, influence and build rapport with stakeholders from a variety of functions to effectively manage projects
• Advanced computer skills with strong proficiency with relevant technical systems - QestMix, QestLab and Command will be highly regarded
