Victoria Daly Regional Council in Katherine is seeking a practical Technical / Handy Person to join our Operations team for a 3-month period. This is a temporary 3-month position, based at the Katherine Regional Support Centre, with occasional travel to our communities & townships.
Your work will contribute to the upkeep and presentation of Council facilities, community spaces, and operational assets. Whether you're maintaining grounds, repairing infrastructure, or supporting projects across remote communities, you'll play an important role in creating safe, functional, and welcoming environments for staff, residents, and visitors.
As the Technical / Handy Person, you'll be responsible for maintaining Council assets and facilities in a clean, safe, and serviceable condition. Your duties will include:
The ideal candidate is a reliable, self-motivated individual who enjoys practical work and takes ownership of your responsibilities.
You bring experience in gardening, landscaping, grounds maintenance, turf management, facility upkeep, or a related field. You are comfortable using a range of tools, plant, and equipment and understand the importance of maintaining assets in a safe, functional, and presentable condition. While capable of working independently, you also understand the importance of collaboration. You communicate effectively, build positive working relationships, and are willing to assist colleagues to ensure team objectives and organisational goals are achieved.
Experience in gardening, landscaping, grounds maintenance, asset maintenance, or similar practical roles.
Sound knowledge of safe work practices and workplace health and safety requirements
Experience operating and maintaining tools, equipment, and machinery relevant to the role
