Job summary

Victoria Daly Regional Council in Katherine is seeking a practical Technical / Handy Person to join our Operations team for a 3-month period. Based at the Katherine Regional Support Centre, the role involves maintaining council facilities, equipment and assets across the region, with occasional travel to communities.

You will perform grounds maintenance, asset upkeep, vehicle and facility tasks, and support service delivery in remote communities.

Qualifications

Experience in gardening, landscaping, grounds maintenance, asset maintenance, or similar practical roles.
Sound knowledge of safe work practices and workplace health and safety requirements.
Experience operating and maintaining tools, equipment, and machinery relevant to the role.

Responsibilities

Delivering and collecting supplies from local businesses and transport providers.
Conducting routine inspections of Council assets and reporting faults.
Maintaining sheds, yards, storage facilities, and outdoor areas.
Undertaking mowing, whipper-snipping, weed control, and general grounds maintenance.
Assisting with landscaping and gardening projects.
Supporting operational service delivery across communities throughout the region
