We're looking for a motivated Technical / Handy Person to join our Operations team and play an important role in maintaining Council facilities, equipment, and assets across the region. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a varied role where no two days are the same, with opportunities to travel, work outdoors, and contribute directly to the communities we serve. This is a temporary 3-month position, based at the Katherine Regional Support Centre, with occasional travel to our communities & townships.
Your work will contribute to the upkeep and presentation of Council facilities, community spaces, and operational assets. Whether you're maintaining grounds, repairing infrastructure, or supporting projects across remote communities, you'll play an important role in creating safe, functional, and welcoming environments for staff, residents, and visitors. The ideal candidate is a reliable, self-motivated individual who enjoys practical work and takes ownership of your responsibilities. You bring experience in gardening, landscaping, grounds maintenance, turf management, facility upkeep, or a related field. You are comfortable using a range of tools, plant, and equipment and understand the importance of maintaining assets in a safe, functional, and presentable condition. While capable of working independently, you also understand the importance of collaboration. You communicate effectively, build positive working relationships, and are willing to assist colleagues to ensure team objectives and organisational goals are achieved. You will bring:
