Job summary

Victoria Daly Regional Council is seeking a Technical / Handy Person to join the Operations team for a 3-month temporary assignment at the Katherine Regional Support Centre. The role covers facilities, equipment, and assets maintenance with some travel to communities across the region.

You’ll work outdoors, perform grounds and asset care, and contribute to safe, functional, and presentable spaces for staff and residents.

Qualifications

Experience in gardening, landscaping, grounds maintenance, asset maintenance or similar practical roles.
Sound knowledge of safe work practices and workplace health and safety requirements.
Experience operating and maintaining tools, equipment, and machinery relevant to the role.
Chemical Handling Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
Parks & Gardens qualification or relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Delivering and collecting supplies from local businesses and transport providers.
Conducting routine inspections of Council assets and reporting faults.
Maintaining sheds, yards, storage facilities, and outdoor areas.
Undertaking mowing, whipper-snipping, weed control, and general grounds maintenance.
Assisting with landscaping and gardening projects.
Supporting operational service delivery across communities throughout the region.
