Job summary

Avanade in Melbourne is seeking a Teams Voice Architect / Senior Engineer to design, build and implement Microsoft Teams Phone solutions, including PSTN connectivity, Direct Routing, Operator Connect, and SBC integration for large enterprise environments.

You will lead voice routing, numbering, security, and resilience, coordinate with client networks and identity teams, and drive production rollout and documentation.

Job description

Role Description The Teams Voice Architect / Senior Engineer is responsible for the design, build, configuration, and implementation of the Unified Communications solution within the client environment. The role provides technical leadership for Microsoft Teams Phone, PSTN connectivity, Direct Routing, Operator Connect, Session Border Controller (SBC) integration, voice routing, numbering, and telephony services. Working closely with client stakeholders, network teams, identity teams, and solution architects, the role is responsible for delivering a secure, scalable, and resilient voice solution that supports local and international calling, integration with client telephony services, and future transition to client-managed SBC infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of Microsoft Teams Phone services.
• Design PSTN connectivity using Operator Connect, Direct Routing, and cloud-based SBC services.
• Define voice routing, numbering plans, dial plans, and telephony policies.
• Design and configure Microsoft Teams voice, audio conferencing, and calling capabilities.
• Support integration with client telephony providers and external voice services.
• Develop architecture to support future adoption of client-managed SBC infrastructure.
• Configure voice security, resilience, and service continuity requirements.
• Lead telephony testing, validation, troubleshooting, and performance optimisation activities.
• Develop solution documentation, operational procedures, and support handover materials.
• Support deployment planning, pilot activities, and production rollout of voice services.
• Provide technical leadership and governance across the Unified Communications workstream.
