Job summary

4Twenty Consulting is seeking a Senior Cloud Voice Architect to design and deliver cloud-based voice solutions for global customers from Sydney. You will lead across solution architecture, pre-sales, product development, integration and hands-on troubleshooting, shaping how Voice AI capabilities are introduced into the platform.

The role offers genuine technical ownership, direct customer exposure and opportunities to influence roadmap and engineering improvements in a fast-moving startup

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience across telecommunications, cloud voice engineering or solution architecture.
• Deep technical expertise in SIP, WebRTC, SIP trunking, SBCs and call routing.
• Experience designing, integrating and troubleshooting cloud-based voice platforms.
• Exposure to carrier interconnection, contact centre platforms or unified communications environments.

Responsibilities

• Architect cloud voice solutions: design scalable, reliable voice infrastructure across SIP, WebRTC, SBCs, cloud telephony and carrier networks.
• Own technical solution design: partner with customers, sales teams and technology partners to understand requirements and develop practical solutions.
• Drive Voice AI innovation: evaluate and integrate conversational AI agents, speech-to-text, text-to-speech and emerging voice automation technologies.
• Solve complex technical challenges: troubleshoot SIP signalling, media, routing, interoperability and connectivity issues.
• Build and integrate: develop scripts, APIs, proof-of-concepts and internal tools that improve platform capabilities and operational efficiency.
• Influence product development: work with internal engineering and product teams to identify opportunities, shape the roadmap and bring new ideas to market.
• Support critical customer environments: collaborate with operations teams on complex issues, including participation in a shared support rotation.

We're looking for a Senior Cloud Voice Architect who combines deep telecommunications expertise with a passion for emerging technology, hands‑on engineering and solving complex technical challenges.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Head of Partner Architecture, you'll play a pivotal role in designing, developing and supporting sophisticated cloud voice solutions for customers and partners.

This isn't a traditional architecture role where you simply produce designs and hand them over to engineering.

You'll work across solution architecture, technical pre-sales, product development, integration and hands‑on troubleshooting, with the opportunity to influence how emerging Voice AI capabilities are introduced into the platform.

You'll have genuine technical ownership, direct customer exposure and the freedom to contribute ideas and improvements.

What You'll Be Doing

• Architect cloud voice solutions: Design scalable, reliable voice infrastructure across SIP, WebRTC, SBCs, cloud telephony and carrier networks.
• Own technical solution design: Partner with customers, sales teams and technology partners to understand requirements and develop practical solutions.

What We're Looking For

You’ll ideally bring 8+ years of relevant experience across telecommunications, cloud voice engineering or solution architecture, alongside:

• Deep technical expertise in SIP, WebRTC, SIP trunking, SBCs and call routing.
• Experience designing, integrating and troubleshooting cloud‑based voice platforms.
• Strong knowledge of SIP traces, signalling, RTP/media flows and packet analysis.
• Exposure to carrier interconnection, contact centre platforms or unified communications environments.
• Confidence engaging customers, understanding requirements and translating them into technical designs.
• Experience with Linux, networking, APIs and scripting or software development.
• A practical, commercially aware approach to solving technical challenges.
• A genuine interest in emerging Voice AI and conversational technologies.

Highly regarded:

Experience with platforms such as Asterisk, FreeSWITCH, Kamailio or OpenSIPS; AWS, Azure or Oracle Cloud; contact centre BYOC integrations; PCI DSS; DevOps and CI/CD; or conversational AI technologies.
