Job summary

Americold Logistics LLC on the Gold Coast is seeking an Afternoon Shift Team Manager to lead a frontline team at our Ormeau site. You will coordinate daily operations, drive KPI performance, and ensure safety and quality across all warehouse activities.

The role requires strong leadership, experience managing large teams, and a focus on continuous improvement in a fast-moving distribution environment. Australian work rights are mandatory and onsite work is expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of proven operational management experience.
• Cold storage operational management experience is preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in managing large teams.
• Knowledge of distribution operations and cross-functional leadership.

• Plan and control KPI performance of a team and manage all labour aspects.
• Maintain health and safety compliance and drive a safety culture.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and internal departments.
• Manage employee performance and development pathways for the team.

• Drive productivity, accuracy, and service across all warehouse activities.
• Monitor workflows and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Ensure inventory integrity through stock control and cycle counting.

Job Description

Americold is a global provider of temperature-controlled infrastructure. We partner with farmers and food producers to ensure their perishable and frozen products reach food suppliers, restaurants, and your local grocery store without spoilage. Our customers, including some of the most respected brands in the food industry, rely on our expertise and commitment to safety to deliver on their commitments.

Primary Responsibility:

Due to site expansion, we are recruiting for an Afternoon Shift Team Manager at our Ormeau site. As the Team Manager, you will provide strong operations leadership to a team of frontline workers, while developing the team's skill set and supporting other site leaders. You would manage and coordinate all processes and activities during the shift to deliver outstanding customer service.

What You’ll Do:

• Planning and controlling KPI performance of a team, and managing all aspects of labour
• Maintaining compliance to health and safety and driving a safety culture
• Coordinating and managing work with subcontractors and internal departments
• Managing employee performance and creating development pathways
• Lead, coach, and motivate team members to achieve operational and safety objectives.
• Drive productivity, accuracy, and service performance across all warehouse activities
• Monitor operational workflows and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Ensure inventory integrity through effective stock control processes and cycle count management.
• Build strong working relationships with customers, transport providers, and internal stakeholders.
• Manage shift handovers and communicate key operational priorities to relevant teams.
• Support workforce planning, rostering, and labour allocation to meet business demands.
• Investigate operational incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Ensure compliance with site procedures, quality standards, and customer requirements.
• Champion employee engagement and contribute to a positive, high-performing team culture.

What Experience and Education You Need:

• Ideally, you are someone with exceptional attention to detail, who prides themselves on being deadline-oriented and maintaining a high level of productivity.
• Australian work rights are mandatory for this position.
• Minimum 3 years of proven operational management experience.
• Cold storage operational management experience is preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in managing large teams.
