Sutherland Shire Council is seeking a Team Leader - Development Services to supervise a team of assessment planners and specialists, ensuring timely and accurate evaluation of development proposals. • Tertiary qualifications in Urban Planning or a related field.
• A current Class C Drivers Licence and General Construction Induction Card (NSW).
• Extensive experience in development assessment, particularly in complex matters.
• Strong negotiation skills, especially NSW Land & Environment Court.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to mentor staff and improve processes and procedures.

About The Role

The Team Leader - Development Services is responsible for supervising a team of assessment planners and specialists to ensure timely and accurate evaluation of development proposals. This role emphasises the importance of high-quality customer service and adherence to Council’s Development Services Customer Charter, while providing expert advice to stakeholders throughout the assessment process.

• Uphold workplace safety and well-being, ensuring compliance with Council policies and safety laws.

• Foster an inclusive and diverse workplace, respecting all individuals and their experiences.

• Encourage professional development opportunities for team members through Council’s training programs.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in development assessment within the local government sector, complemented by strong leadership and interpersonal skills. A commitment to customer service excellence and continuous improvement is essential for this role.

• Package: An attractive salary package will be negotiated with the successful candidate.In addition an award vehicle allowance of $10,780 gross p.a will be paid.
• Hours of work: Working 35 hours per week. You will have the option of a 19 day month with Council's ADO system (Accrued Day Off).
