Southern Rural Water is seeking a Team Leader Civil Maintenance and Operations to oversee civil maintenance, asset inspections and water supply operations in the Macalister Irrigation District. Southern Rural Water is seeking an experienced operational leader to join our team as the Team Leader Civil Maintenance and Operations (TLCMO) based in Maffra. If you have experience leading teams in an operational or maintenance environment, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!

The TLCMO will lead the delivery of Civil Asset Maintenance, Asset Inspections/Audits, and Water Supply Operations and Compliance across the Macalister Irrigation District. Working with limited supervision, you will provide direction to field based operational teams, oversee the delivery of civil asset maintenance and inspection activities, and work directly with customers and community groups to understand and resolve complex operational matters.

As the Team Lead, you will play a key role in fostering a collaborative and high performing team culture that values growth, accountability, and shared success. With a strong focus on delivering exceptional leadership and direction to field based operational teams, you will drive consistency, efficiency, and excellence to support effective service delivery and operational outcomes.

As the Team Leader Civil Maintenance and Operations, some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the planning, delivery and continuous improvement of civil maintenance, inspection and operational programs across the Macalister Irrigation District to ensure asset reliability, regulatory compliance and customer service outcomes.
  • Provide leadership and direction to field-based operational teams, ensuring alignment with organisational goals, workforce capability development and delivery of agreed performance outcomes.
  • Manage operational and programmed maintenance budgets, capital works programs and recurrent expenditure to ensure works are delivered safely, on time and within approved budgets.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with customers, contractors, regulators, stakeholders and service providers to support effective service delivery and operational outcomes.
  • Develop and manage routine civil maintenance, weed spraying, and inspection schedules ensuring resources and field teams are effectively coordinated to deliver planned programs.

  • Proven leadership skills, with experience supervising and supporting teams to deliver safe and efficient outcomes.
  • Experience in civil asset maintenance and operational environments.
  • Understanding of financial management, including developing, monitoring and reporting on operational and capital budgets.
  • Experience responding to customer and community requests and delivering practical outcomes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with managers to understand expectations and deliver agreed service standards.
