The University of Adelaide, via Adelaide University Online (AUO), invites expressions of interest for casual teaching academics to deliver 100% online courses. This fully remote, flexible role suits educators who can work outside standard hours and weekends, supporting busy students with engaging online learning experiences.

We welcome candidates with a minimum Bachelor’s degree and relevant industry experience; a Masters or PhD is preferred for higher‑level courses.

Application Process

• Note: This is a fully remote, flexible role with work conducted primarily outside standard Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm office hours.

Core Responsibilities

• Undertake online teaching as part of the AUO teaching team
• Apply disciplinary expertise to consult, facilitate discussions, mark assessment items, and provide feedback to students
• Implement approaches that maximise the student experience and learning outcomes
• Provide academic support, mentoring and advice to students
• Act as the first point of response/contact in managing student issues or complaints

Essential Skills and Experience

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree and relevant professional/industry work experience (10-week courses)
• Minimum Masters or PhD (6-week courses)
• Ability to undertake a range of teaching duties in an online environment
• Ability to actively engage and educate a diverse student group
• Excellent written and interpersonal skills
• Ability to use the necessary digital techniques and tools required for effective online teaching
• Available to work outside of normal working hours, including weekends
