Job summary

Youth Off The Streets is seeking a Generalist Teacher on a permanent full-time basis for our Key College in Sydney, NSW. You will build strong relationships with diverse learners, differentiating Science, Maths, PE and Aboriginal Studies to suit individual needs.

You will work in a trauma-informed environment, uphold child safety principles, engage marginalised students, and collaborate with leaders to support positive outcomes and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Ability to work with young people who have been marginalised in previous schools.
• Understanding of child safe organisation principles and mandatory child protection procedures.
• Respect and work effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Willingness to teach across Science, Maths, PE and Aboriginal Studies.

Youth Off The Streets is a not‑for‑profit organisation supporting young people to build safer, healthier futures. For 30 years, our special assistance schools have provided flexible education for students who don’t thrive in mainstream settings.

Established in 2004, Key College is a coeducational specialist school supporting students in Years 9-12.

Our school programs aim to empower young people with learning strategies to make informed decisions towards creating a positive future.

About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Generalist Teacher on a permanent full-time basis.

You're a calm, structured and adaptable teacher who enjoys building strong relationships with young people. You're confident differentiating learning for students with a wide range of academic, behavioural and social needs, and you can flex your approach to keep students engaged and feeling safe.

What You Will Bring:

Ability to work with young people who have been marginalised in previous schools.

Flexible to teach across Science, Maths, PE and Aboriginal Studies; experience desirable but not essential.

Previous experience working in a trauma-informed setting or with students who have experienced trauma is preferred.

An understanding of the principles that underpin a child safe organisation including mandatory child protection procedures.

Demonstrated capacity to respect and work effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and people of diverse cultural backgrounds.

Additional experience in outdoor recreation, performing arts, creative arts, sport, fitness or other extra curricula activities are desirable qualities.

Experience and proficiency in G‑Suite and Google Classroom is desired but not essential.

Current registration with NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA).
