The successful applicant will ideally be an enthusiastic, motivated and passionate English Teacher, with a commitment to excellence in teaching and learning in the secondary context. Teachers at all stages of their career are encouraged to apply, including new graduates. The successful applicant should specialise in English and ideally possess the professional knowledge, understanding and experience to develop and implement engaging and purposeful learning experiences across the English areas. A strong understanding of literacy, literature and language, as well as the ability to develop students' skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening, will be highly regarded. It is desirable that the successful applicant has the ability to teach Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) English.
The successful applicant will be encouraged to utilise a wide range of assessment and reporting methods to monitor student progression in relation to the relevant achievement standards. A commitment to inclusive education and a strategic approach to planning for improved student outcomes, with experience or capacity to differentiate the curriculum to meet the needs of students with a range of achievement levels, language backgrounds and disabilities, will be highly regarded. Ideally, the successful applicant will be able to develop a supportive and positive classroom environment, possess effective interpersonal skills and work collaboratively and effectively in a professional manner. The ability to elicit positive student behaviour using an educative approach is highly regarded.

Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position. At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently into this school.
