Job description

We are seeking to establish a pool of Computing and Digital Technologies Teacher for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2027 school year and upto the end of Term 2, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The School

Joseph Banks Secondary College (SC) an Independent Public School, is located in the suburb of Banksia Grove, approximately 27 kilometres from the Perth Central Business District (CBD). We currently accept students from Years 7 to 12. Joseph Banks SC is the Northern P-TECH Partnership School. P-TECH is a world leading education model that offers secondary school students an industry supported pathway to a science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) qualification. Our P-TECH focus is Cyber Security.

The College has state of the art facilities and equipment and offers a wide variety of courses in Digital Technologies from Years 7 to 12 including, cyber security, robotics, coding, website development, graphic design, engineering and information technology. Other STEM related courses and initiatives include the integration of new technology using CAD and drawing software to utilise 3D printers and laser cutters.

Joseph Banks SC opened the Space Science Education Centre in 2023, with purpose-built Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) facilities, including specialist Cyber Security classrooms. In establishing the Space Science Education Centre, the College is refining and expanding our innovative and authentic curriculum, through our partnerships and collaboration with industry, associations, tertiary institutions, and the wider education sector. Learning programs include a clear focus on ensuring pathways engage and attract students to the industry and provide successful transition into tertiary related fields and/or workforce and industry related fields.

They will ideally provide students with a purposeful and engaging learning experience to develop their understanding and appreciation of Digital Technologies.

Suitable applicants will ideally be able to display the ability to provide high-quality teaching and learning programs to meet the needs of our students. Applicants should have an excellent knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum and be able to teach students of varying ability levels across Year 7 to 12 in a highly engaging manner. Strong knowledge and skills in the delivery of one or more Senior Secondary courses, including Applied Information Technology and Computer Science, is highly desirable.
