Job summary

St Hilda's School on the Gold Coast invites applications for a Teacher Aide in the Junior School (Years 1 and 3). This fixed-term, part-time role supports teachers and students with learning activities and classroom prep within a values-driven Anglican environment.

The role requires caring, collaborative individuals who engage with students, foster inclusion, and contribute to a safe learning space while working under the Head of Junior School.

Qualifications

• Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
• First Aid and CPR certificate (or willingness to obtain prior to appointment)
• Certificate III in Education Support
• Experience with primary-aged children in an educational setting
• High professional and ethical standards
• Genuine passion for educating and nurturing girls

Responsibilities

• Provide in-class support to students, including those with additional learning needs
• Assist teachers with preparation and organisation of learning materials and resources
• Support small group and individual instruction under the direction of the classroom teacher
• Assist with supervision of students during classroom activities, transitions, and outdoor breaks
• Support the implementation of individualised education plans and behaviour plans
• Foster a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students
• Maintain cleanliness, organisation and safety of teaching spaces and storage areas
• Promote an inclusive and respectful learning environment and student wellbeing

Teacher Aide – Junior School (Years 1 and 3)

Fixed Term, Part Time, Term Time

Monday – Friday – 30 hours/week (days and hours slightly flexible)

Commencing: 20 January 2027 until 29 November 2027 (with likelihood of extension)

About the Role

The Teacher Aide (Junior School) provides support to teaching staff in the delivery of the junior school curriculum. The Teacher Aide (Junior School) supports the effective delivery of classroom programs by providing organisational, administrative, and student support assistance under the direction of the classroom teacher and Head of Junior School. The role contributes to maintaining a safe, efficient, and well‑prepared learning environment to enhance student learning outcomes. The role focuses on providing support, enabling the classroom teacher to deliver the educational program effectively.

Responsibilities

• Support small group and individual instruction under the direction of the classroom teacher
• Assist with the supervision of students during classroom activities, transitions, and outdoor breaks
• Support the implementation of individualised education plans and behaviour support plans
• Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all students
• Maintain cleanliness, organisation and safety of all teaching spaces including equipment and storage areas
• Promote an inclusive and respectful learning environment, encouraging student engagement and wellbeing

Requirements

• Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
• Current First Aid and CPR certificate (or willingness to obtain prior to appointment)
• Certificate III in Education Support
• Previous experience working with primary‑aged children, particularly in an educational setting
• High professional and ethical standards
• Genuine passion for educating and nurturing girls through their primary years.
