Job description

Talent Acquisition Lead – Infrastructure, Civil & Energy

Sydney | Flexible / Hybrid | Attractive base + end-of-year performance bonus

We are recruiting on behalf of a growing national consultancy providing project management, commercial, project controls, procurement and delivery advisory services across Australia.

The business supports clients delivering complex civil, infrastructure, energy and major-project programmes. Its clients include contractors, developers, government bodies, asset owners and project-delivery teams.

Due to continued growth, the business is seeking an experienced, commercially focused recruitment professional to establish and grow its specialist recruitment offering across civil, infrastructure and energy.

This is a senior, hands-on role for someone who can hit the ground running. You will bring a strong industry network, a proven background in contract recruitment and the confidence to develop client relationships, generate new opportunities and deliver high-quality recruitment outcomes from day one.

The role

As the Principal Recruitment Consultant, you will lead recruitment activity across civil construction, infrastructure, energy and major-project markets.

You will recruit contract and permanent professionals across disciplines including:

  • Project and programme management

  • Commercial management and quantity surveying

  • Contracts administration, claims and cost management

  • Project controls, planning and scheduling

  • Engineering, design and technical delivery

  • Procurement and supply chain

  • Construction management and site leadership

  • HSE, quality, risk and assurance

  • Estimating, cost planning and advisory roles

This is a genuine 360-degree recruitment role. You will combine business development, account management, candidate attraction, recruitment delivery, contractor mobilisation and ongoing contractor care.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and grow a specialist recruitment desk across civil, infrastructure, energy and major-project sectors

  • Build trusted relationships with contractors, consultancies, asset owners, developers, government organisations and project-delivery teams

  • Identify, pursue and convert new recruitment, contracting and workforce-solution opportunities

  • Recruit high-calibre contractors and permanent professionals across project management, commercial, engineering and project-controls disciplines

  • Manage the full recruitment lifecycle, from client briefing and candidate sourcing through to interviews, offers, mobilisation and placement

  • Build and maintain active candidate networks within relevant project-delivery disciplines

  • Manage contractor onboarding, compliance, timesheets, extensions, redeployment and ongoing contractor care

  • Negotiate client terms, contractor rates, margins and assignment extensions

  • Work closely with the wider advisory and project-delivery team to identify recruitment opportunities within existing client relationships

  • Maintain accurate CRM records, candidate pipelines, sales activity and market intelligence

  • Represent the business through networking, referrals, industry events and targeted market engagement

About you

This opportunity will suit an established recruitment professional who understands the pace, complexity and commercial realities of civil, infrastructure and energy projects.

You will ideally bring:

  • 15+ years’ recruitment experience, ideally gained within an agency, project-services consultancy, engineering consultancy or specialist infrastructure recruitment business

  • Strong experience recruiting into civil construction, infrastructure, energy, utilities, renewables, transport, water, resources or major-project environments

  • Demonstrated experience in contract recruitment, including contractor compliance, rate negotiation, margin management, timesheets, extensions and redeployment

  • Established relationships with candidates and clients across project management, commercial, engineering and project-controls disciplines

  • Experience recruiting roles such as Project Managers, Commercial Managers, Quantity Surveyors, Contract Administrators, Project Controls Managers, Planners, Engineers, Construction Managers, Procurement specialists and HSE professionals

  • A proven record of winning new business, developing client accounts and growing a specialist recruitment desk

  • Strong commercial judgement, negotiation skills and a delivery-focused approach

  • The confidence to work autonomously while contributing positively within a collaborative and growing business

  • A proactive, resilient and practical approach, with the drive to build momentum quickly

What is on offer

Attractive base salary, aligned to experience and market knowledge

End-of-year performance bonus based on the achievement of agreed KPIs

Flexible and hybrid working arrangements

The opportunity to build and shape a specialist recruitment function within a growing national consultancy

Access to established client relationships and project-led opportunities across civil, infrastructure and energy markets

Direct access to senior leadership and fast decision-making

A high-trust environment with autonomy, accountability and minimal bureaucracy

Long-term opportunity to build a meaningful recruitment platform and client portfolio

Performance bonus

The end-of-year bonus will be linked to clear, agreed performance measures. These will be established at the commencement of employment and reviewed throughout the year.

KPIs are likely to include:

  • Revenue, gross profit and placement performance

  • New-client acquisition and development of strategic accounts

  • Growth in contractor placements and contractor book value

  • Delivery quality, candidate experience and client satisfaction

  • Contractor retention, assignment extensions and redeployment

  • CRM discipline, compliance and operational standards

  • Contribution to the broader growth and reputation of the recruitment business

The aim is to reward both commercial performance and the long-term value created through client relationships, contractor networks and a sustainable specialist recruitment desk.

Why this opportunity?

This is not a standard high-volume recruitment role. You will join a national consultancy with established project-delivery capability and a growing client base across Australia’s civil, infrastructure and energy sectors.

You will work alongside experienced project, commercial and advisory professionals who understand the markets in which you recruit. The business is investing in recruitment as a strategic growth area and is looking for an experienced operator who can bring market credibility, commercial discipline and immediate momentum.

If you are an established recruiter with the network, sector experience and drive to build a successful civil, infrastructure and energy recruitment desk, we encourage you to apply.

All applications will be treated in the strictest confidence.
