Daifuku at Cairns Airport is seeking a hands-on mechanical technician to maintain and fault-find the baggage handling systems and automated equipment.

You will work rotating shifts, perform preventative and reactive maintenance, and document faults. No airport experience is required—trade skills and a safety-first mindset are essential.

Qualifications

• Hands-on mechanical maintenance, repairs & fault finding
• Work on baggage conveyors, automated equipment & airport systems
• Rotating shifts keeping Cairns Airport moving 24/7

You will work hands-on with the Baggage Handling Systems, Guidance Systems & Passenger Boarding Bridges. Maintaining and troubleshooting the automated equipment that helps keep bags, passengers and airport operations flowing every day.

What you will be doing

You Will:

What we are looking for

You don’t need airport experience. Bring your trade skills, mechanical know-how,willingness to learn and your positive attitude!

You will need:

• Mechanical Trade Qualification


• Strong mechanical maintenance and fault-finding skills


• Ability to work rotating shifts – this is nonnegotiable as we run 24-hour operations


• Confidence working with automated equipment and computer-based systems


• A strong safety-first mindset


• Good communication, good banter and teamwork skills


• Ability to obtain an ASIC and Airside Driver’s License

Experience with conveyors, hydraulics, PLCs, baggage handling systems or automated equipment would be a bonus, it’s not essential.
