Job summary

Box Hill Institute is seeking a Systems Engineer to maintain and enhance our enterprise infrastructure. You will support the stability, security and performance of our data centre and hybrid environment across on-premise and cloud platforms like Microsoft Azure and Entra ID.

You will work with compute, storage and backup technologies, engage with vendors, and thrive in a growth-focused IT department investing in IT, Digital and AI implementations across multi-campus operations.

Qualifications

• Advanced Diploma or Degree in IT, Computer Science or equivalent with Azure, identity platforms, virtualization, backup tech and ITIL.
• Experience managing enterprise data centre environments including physical/virtual servers, storage and hyperconverged infra.
• Hands-on capability in backup, recovery and resilience practices, infra monitoring, lifecycle management, vendor interactions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain stability, security and performance of core data centre and hybrid infrastructure.
• Provide operational support across compute, storage, virtualization and enterprise backup/recovery environments (incl. Veeam).
• Collaborate with IT Infrastructure Services and external vendors across a multi-campus environment.

About the Role:

Supporting the Technology That Powers Education

Play a hands-on role in keeping the technology that supports teaching and business operations running reliably every day. As a Systems Engineer, you will support the stability, security and performance of Box Hill Institute's core data centre and hybrid infrastructure.

Working across on premise and cloud connected platforms, this role provides practical operational support across compute, storage, virtualisation and enterprise backup and recovery environments, including Veeam. You will be part of the IT Infrastructure Services team, supporting a hybrid environment that spans traditional data centre technologies and platforms such as Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Entra ID, while working closely with internal teams and external vendors across a multi-campus environment.

Qualifications / Requirements:

• Advanced Diploma or Degree in IT, Computer Science or equivalent experience, with certifications or equivalent experience across Azure, identity platforms, virtualisation, backup technologies and ITIL
• Demonstrated experience supporting enterprise data centre environments including physical and virtual servers, enterprise storage and hyperconverged infrastructure across multi-site or distributed environments
• Hands-on capability in backup, recovery and resilience practices, infrastructure monitoring, lifecycle management, technical documentation and working with vendors or managed service providers
