Job summary

Austal Defence Australia (ADA) is seeking a Systems Engineer to lead the application of Systems Engineering Methodologies across projects. You’ll implement methodologies and ensure data integrity, design traceability, and compliance in complex defence programs.

The role requires tertiary qualification in Systems Engineering and at least 3 years’ experience, with strong PLM/configuration management expertise and a track record of delivering outcomes in challenging environments.

Qualifications

  • Defence sector experience is essential.
  • Tertiary qualification in Systems Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years in Systems Engineering or closely related field.
  • Strong expertise in PLM and configuration management, requirements management, and traceability.
  • Proven track record delivering engineering solutions and change initiatives.
  • Experience working on complex projects and quality assurance processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce technical and capability documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and apply Systems Engineering methodologies within the team for project delivery.
  • Produce accurate data and documentation through systematic approaches.
  • Maximise PLM system platform adoption and usage.
  • Assist in integrating Enterprise System Architecture across programs.

What's Involved
  • Lead Systems Engineering Methodologies and the application within the team to deliver Projects
  • Lead and apply Systems Engineering methodologies to produce accurate data and documtation
  • Maximise PLM system platform adoption and usage
  • Lead and apply Systems Engineering methodologies to assist in the integration of Enterprise System Architecture
You’ll Need
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance.
  • Tertiary qualification in Systems Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Systems Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Strong expertise in PLM/Configuration Management tools, requirements management, design traceability, and configuration control.
  • Proven track record delivering engineering solutions, change management initiatives, continuous improvement programs, and implementation outcomes.
  • Experience working within complex projects, quality assurance frameworks, and business improvement processes to deliver effective outcomes.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering technical and capability documentation for complex customers, including repository and engineering process management.
  • Defence industry experience across areas such as ILS, Production, Verification & Validation (V&V), Systems Safety, C4I, Cyber Security, Product Management, and regulatory/compliance activities (e.g., Class and Lloyd’s Register submissions).
