Job summary

Based in Henderson, Austal is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support and deliver mechanical design and drafting across all phases of commercial vessel development from concept to delivery. You will help ensure on-time, on-budget outcomes while meeting Austal's quality standards and regulatory requirements.

You will lead design groups, manage inputs from third parties, and seek improvements in design processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics engineering.
• Advanced AutoCAD skills.
• 5–10 years' experience in a similar capacity.

Responsibilities

• Produce accurate vessel design documentation and ensure compliance with regulatory authorities, specifications and customer requirements.
• Lead and supervise design groups.
• Manage design inputs from third parties such as drawings, certifications and manuals.
• Monitor task schedules and proactively track progress and upcoming deliverables.
• Seek and implement improvements in design processes and product quality.
• Detail design of exhaust systems, propulsion systems, domestic systems, cooling systems, hydraulic systems and fire systems.
• Preparation of design drawings including calculations and schematics.
• Selection and requisition of Machinery.

Based in Henderson the Senior Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for supporting and delivering mechanical design and drafting services across all phases of commercial vessel development from concept through to final delivery. Your work will be instrumental in ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and in full compliance with Austal’s quality standards, client expectations, and regulatory requirements.
