Job summary

Randstad is seeking Systems Engineers with specialised expertise in Verification and Validation (V&V) to support key defence acquisition projects in Canberra. You will lead planning, coordination, and execution of Integration, Verification, Validation, and Test & Evaluation (T&E) to ensure complex systems meet Defence standards.

The roles suit candidates with extensive experience delivering maritime and/or land capability systems, not solely ICT or software testing backgrounds.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• Experience on major defence acquisition or sustainment initiatives.
• Understanding of core systems engineering concepts and verification across lifecycle.
• Experience with verification matrices, test procedures, requirement traceability, and verification plans.
• Experience with system integration, qualification, acceptance testing, or platform trials.
• Experience supporting verification, integration, or testing of complex systems (maritime, land, etc.).

Randstad is seeking Systems Engineers with specialised expertise in Verification and Validation (V&V) to support key defence acquisition projects. Operating within a collaborative, multidisciplinary engineering team, you will drive the planning, coordination, and execution of Integration, Verification, Validation, and Test & Evaluation (T&E) processes to guarantee that complex systems satisfy rigorous Defence standards.

The roles would suit someone with extensive experience in delivery of complex maritime and/or land capability systems rather than ICT and software testing backgrounds.

The roles are permanent full-time roles based in Canberra.

As a Systems Engineer you will

• Develop and maintain Verification & Validation Plan for complex defence projects.
• Conduct Test & Evaluation activities, including drafting test procedures, schedules, and acceptance criteria.
• Perform systems integration and operational testing, including conducting platform trials.
• Evaluate test outcomes and verification evidence to spot defects, manage risks, and implement corrective measures.
• Collaborate with Defence stakeholders to ensure all V&V and T&E operations adhere strictly to Defence regulations, technical standards, and project goals.

About You

• A degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a relevant technical discipline.
• Proven background working on major defence acquisition or sustainment initiatives.
• Understanding of core systems engineering concepts and applying verification and validation across the lifecycle.
• Demonstrated capability in crafting and managing key engineering assurance documentation, such as verification matrices, test procedures, requirement traceability, and verification plans.
• Hands-on experience with system integration, qualification, acceptance testing, operational evaluations, or platform trial execution.
• Background supporting the verification, integration, or testing of complex systems, including maritime, land, communications, electrical, mechanical, or combat systems.

The candidate must be an Australian citizen, and have a NV1 clearance
