Job summary

RGIT Australia is seeking a Systems & Control Engineer for our Murray Downs almond processing facility. This full-time role spans IT, OT, automation and production, ensuring integration and reliability of PLC/SCADA, MES/WMS and reporting tools.

You will troubleshoot data and system integration, connect automation with business software, develop dashboards, and support new installations to improve plant reliability and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Background in OT, automation, or control systems.
• Experience with PLC/SCADA or MES/WMS systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot integration and data issues.
• Comfort connecting plant equipment to business software and data tools.

Work with systems that move things, make things and control a production plant

We’re looking for a Systems & Control Engineer to help run, connect and improve the technology behind our highly automated almond processing facility.

This isn’t a conventional IT support role. You’ll work across IT, Operational Technology, automation and production, supporting everything from business software and data systems through to automated plant and machinery.

The technology:

• Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs)
• PLC & SCADA-controlled machinery
• MES & Warehouse Management Systems
• Automated sorting, packing and material-handling equipment
• Production, inventory and product traceability systems
• Specialist platforms including OFS, ALMADS, Onside, Sage, C-Way and Team Assurance
• Microsoft 365, Excel, SharePoint and reporting/data tools

Your challenge is to help make these systems talk to each other and work reliably together.

The Role:

You'll work alongside Production, Automation, Engineering, Maintenance, Quality and IT to:

• Troubleshoot system, data and integration problems
• Connect production equipment, PLC/SCADA, MES/WMS, AGVs and business systems
• Improve automation and eliminate unnecessary manual processes
• Develop better reporting, dashboards and data visibility
• Support new system installations, testing and commissioning
• Find practical ways technology can make the plant more reliable, efficient and easier to operate.

The Person:

We're seeking someone with strong technical curiosity, systems thinking and problem-solving ability who can understand how machinery, software, data and people interact.

Ideally, you'll bring experience in some combination of:

• Operational Technology
• Automation
• Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) / Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA)
• Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) / Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
• Automatic Guided Vehicles (AGV’s)
• Databases/SQL, Microsoft 365, Excel, Power BI

Experience in food processing, manufacturing, automated warehousing or another highly automated environment would be a significant advantage.

A relevant qualification in IT, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechatronics, Science or a related discipline is required.
