Job summary

Northrop Grumman Australia is seeking a System Safety Engineer to support Defence aviation programs, identifying and managing risks to ensure safe operation of military aircraft. You'll join a collaborative team with mentoring and opportunities to build expertise in safety engineering and airworthiness, within a hybrid work environment.

Key responsibilities include hazard identification, risk assessment, safety case development, investigations, and compliance with aviation safety standards.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree recognised by Engineers Australia.
• Approximately 5 years of System Safety experience or equivalent engineering experience.
• Experience solving technical problems, conducting analysis and assessing risk.
• Familiar with MIL-STD-882 or Defence Aviation Safety Regulations.
• Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams in System Safety.
• Strong communication to present outcomes from analysis.

Responsibilities

• Conduct system safety assessments and risk analysis.
• Support hazard identification and hazard management activities.
• Develop and contribute to safety cases, hazard logs and risk registers.
• Participate in safety reviews and investigations.
• Provide safety advice to engineering teams.
• Support compliance with aviation safety and regulatory requirements.
• Contribute to safety reporting and assurance activities.
• Assist in the continuous improvement of safety programs.
• Actively participate in System Safety Working Groups and other safety forums.
