Job summary

Northrop Grumman Australia seeks a System Safety Engineer to support Defence aviation programs, identifying hazards and conducting risk analyses to ensure safe operation of aircraft. You will develop safety cases, hazard logs and risk registers while collaborating with experienced engineers and safety professionals.

The role offers mentoring, hybrid working, a 9-day fortnight and opportunities to grow expertise in airworthiness and Defence capability.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree recognised by Engineers Australia.
• Approximately 5 years' System Safety experience or equivalent engineering experience.
• Experience with safety standards such as MIL-STD-882 or Defence regulations.
• Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and share guidance in System Safety.
• Strong communication to present outcomes and recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct system safety assessments and risk analysis.
• Support hazard identification and hazard management activities.
• Develop and contribute to safety cases, hazard logs and risk registers.
• Participate in safety reviews and investigations.
• Provide safety advice to engineering teams.
• Support compliance with aviation safety and regulatory requirements.
• Contribute to safety reporting and assurance activities.
• Assist in the continuous improvement of safety programs.
