Job summary

YMCA Stanthorpe is seeking enthusiastic Swimming Lessons Teachers on a casual basis to join our team in Stanthorpe. You will deliver safe, professional swimming lessons and uphold YMCA aquatic program standards.

You’ll maintain current certifications (AUSTSWIM, First Aid/CPR), complete safeguarding training, and demonstrate strong communication with students and families. Weekend availability is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must hold AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety certification.
• Must be available to work on Saturdays.
• Swim coaching certifications are advantageous and will be reviewed.
• Current First Aid or CPR certification, or willingness to obtain.
• Holder of a National Police Check.
• Blue Card/Working with Children clearance (or willingness to obtain).
• YMCA Safeguarding Children Training certificate with annual refresher.
• Experience in a similar role.
• Strong communication skills and approachable manner.

Responsibilities

• Deliver YMCA swimming lessons safely, effectively, and professionally.
• Maintain thorough knowledge of YMCA aquatic programs and teaching trends.
• Ensure attendance to all allocated classes for a minimum of 12 months.
• Provide high levels of service to Learn to Swim members and families.

About the role

As a Swimming Lessons Teachers you are an essential component in the delivery of YMCA aquatic education programs and services. These positions are required to maintain thorough knowledge and understanding of all aspects of YMCA aquatic programs, educational trends and industry development.

What will my time look like?

• The philosophies of YMCA Aquatic Programs and Services
• The delivery of safe, effective and professional lessons
• Maintaining a comprehensive knowledge of teaching swimming and water safety
• Ensuring they are available to undertake every allocated class for a minimum of 12 months
• Delivering the highest level of service to all Learn to Swim members and their families.

Am I a good match?

• AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety
• Availability to work on Saturdays
• Any Swim Coaching Certifications – will be reviewed
• Current certification for First Aid, CPR, or willingness to obtain
• Currently National Police Check
