Job summary

YMCA NSW seeks a dedicated swim teacher to deliver engaging lessons for swimmers of all ages and abilities at our centre in Port Macquarie. You will create a welcoming environment, tailor lessons to individual needs, and monitor progress with constructive feedback.

Qualifications

  • Current and recognised swim teaching qualification is required.
  • Candidate should have a genuine passion for swimming and helping others build confidence in the water.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills across ages and backgrounds are essential.
  • Patience, empathy and an encouraging teaching style are important.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain.
  • A valid Working with Children Check or equivalent is required.

Responsibilities

What You'll Be Doing

In this role, you will have the wonderful opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of swimmers of all ages and abilities. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging, safe, and inclusive swim lessons tailored to the needs of each individual learner
  • Creating a welcoming and supportive environment where all participants feel valued and encouraged
  • Monitoring and assessing swimmer progress and providing constructive, positive feedback
  • Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all participants at all times
  • Communicating openly and respectfully with swimmers, families, and team members
  • Maintaining accurate records of attendance and swimmer development
  • Contributing to a positive and collaborative team culture
