Job summary

Macquarie University Sport and Aquatic Centre (MUSAC) is seeking casual swimming coaches to deliver face-to-face training for the MQU Squad program at Macquarie University in North Ryde. You will report to the Head Coach and work across competitive and recreational streams.

You will coach swimmers from Junior Development to Senior Competition, develop seasonal plans, provide stroke correction guidance, and participate in club races and internal events.

Qualifications

• Hold Australian Swim Coach License from Swimming Australia as minimum.
• Demonstrated experience coaching in a competitive/development squad environment.
• Ability to coach swimmers of all abilities and adapt to varying backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Coach and develop swimmers from junior development through senior competition.

Job description

Campus Life is currently seeking casual swimming coaches to join the Macquarie University Sports and Aquatics Centre (MUSAC) team. Reporting to the Head Coach, the casual swimming coaches will be responsible for delivering face to face training sessions in both competitive and recreational streams within the MQU Squad program.

Duties include:

• Coach and develop swimmers from the Junior Development phase through to Senior Competition phase within the MQU Squad program
• Develop and implement seasonal training plans, providing coaching and advice on technical stroke correction and competition-based performance training plans
• Provide direction to swimmers of all abilities, adapting and modifying stroke models to suit varying abilities
• Attend and coach at MQU Club races, internal and external competitions
• In consultation with the Head Coach, plan and coordinate the running of MQU internal Club racing opportunities.
• In collaboration with the Head Coach and the coaching team, implement student retention activities
• Consult with Head Coach to assist and provide feedback within the squad program via the use of CRM system, for continued growth and improvement of the squad program
• Maintain accurate records on athletes/swimmers' progression within the program
• Completion of administration duties including parent enquiries & parent feedback on student progression

Macquarie University Sport and Aquatic Centre (MUSAC) is a multi-purpose venue. Located at Wallumattagal Campus, North Ryde, our facility includes a 6-lane heated indoor pool, and an 8-lane outdoor heated Olympic-sized swimming pool. The coaching team provides coaching and direction in best practice and techniques for competitive swimmers of all ages.

ABOUT YOU

You have a customer centric mindset combined with demonstrated experience teaching and coaching within the aquatics industry. You have the ability to work well in a team environment, as well as the initiative to work independently.

In addition, you meet the following criteria:

• Hold Australian Swim Coach License from Swimming Australia as minimum
• Demonstrated experience coaching in a competitive/ development squad environment
• Possesses experience of competitive coaching of Metropolitan/Country level athletes and above
• Ability to develop and nurture swimmers of all abilities with diverse backgrounds
• Work hours will vary throughout the competition season. Must be available to work on a rotating roster seven (7) days per week.

This role requires a NSW Working with Children Check, current First Aid and CPR certificates.
