Job summary

Belgravia Leisure is seeking a casual Swimming Teacher for Monbulk Aquatic Centre. You will teach swimming and water safety to children, with shifts mornings, evenings and weekends. The role emphasizes energetic, empathetic instruction and strong communication with families and staff.

Applicants should hold current First Aid and CPR, WWCC, and police checks, plus a relevant Swim Teacher certificate. Desirable: Infant/Preschool Aquatics and Inclusion training.

Qualifications

• Valid First Aid (Level 2) and CPR are required.
• Working with Children Check (or equivalent) required.
• National Police Check required.
• Current Swim Certificate for Teaching of Swimming and Water Safety is required.
• Desirable: Swim Teacher – Infant/Preschool Aquatics.
• Desirable: Aquatics Access and Inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Teach swimming and water safety to children and learners of diverse ages.
• Work mornings, evenings and weekends as required.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents and guardians across cultures and abilities.
• Assist with birthday parties and centre activities as needed.
• Support swim school members and ensure high quality customer service.

This is a great opportunityfor qualified teachers who enjoy swimming, love working with children, who want to teach the skills of swimming and the value of water safety.

The Role

As aSwimming Teacheryou will teach effective Swimming and Water Safety to help grow our swim program. Youmay be required to work mornings, evenings and weekends and must be empathetic to the needs of the classes.

You will have a passion for swimming and making children safer around the water. You should be energetic, dynamic, outgoing and fun, with a flair for working with children. You will need outstanding communication skills and a commitment to customer service excellence to ensure swim school members, patrons and parents are gaining maximum benefit and enjoyment from the services provided.

Successful applicants will demonstrate the ability to communicate and interact effectively with students that have a diverse range of ages, abilities, cultures and needs. We have casual positions available for school swimming (during school hours).

This position can also lends itself to shifts teaching school swimming and as well as assisting with birthday parties at the centre.

Skills & Attributes

• Energetic, innovative and decisive teaching style
• An understanding of OHS and public safety applications within your facility
• Ability to work mornings, evenings and weekends and must be empathetic to the needs of the classes
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as a strong and valuable part of the team
• Current First Aid (Level 2) & Current CPR Certificate
• Working With Children Check (or equivalent) & National Police Check
• Current Swim Certificate - Teaching of Swimming and Water Safety
• Swim Teacher of Infant and Preschool Aquatics (Desirable)
• Swim Teacher of Aquatics Access and Inclusion (Desirable)
• Previous experience and success in a comparable role is not essential but highly regarded
