Job description

Full time | Fixed Term contract to 2028

Starting from $112,404 + Superannuation

Are you a passionate, community development professional who thrives on building connections, empowering local voices and creating opportunities for children and families to flourish?

This is more than a community development role. It's an opportunity to be part of a collaborative initiative that is creating lasting change for children, families and communities across the North.

At the City of Playford, we are creating positive outcomes through the Swallowcliffe Children's Precinct and the Children in the North initiative. Working alongside community members, schools, service providers and government partners, you will play a key role in strengthening connections, supporting local leadership and helping bring community aspirations to life.

If you are motivated by collaboration, love working with people and want to make a genuine difference in the lives of children and families, we would love to hear from you.

Why this role?

This is your opportunity to lead community-led change in a vibrant and growing community.

You will work at the heart of the Swallowcliffe Children's Precinct, building relationships, fostering partnerships and supporting initiatives that respond to local strengths, aspirations and needs. Every conversation you facilitate, partnership you nurture and project you support will contribute to creating a stronger, more connected community where children and families can flourish.

No two days will be the same. One day you may be working alongside community members to co-design local initiatives, while the next you could be bringing together stakeholders to strengthen collaboration and drive meaningful outcomes.

What you will get to do
  • Coordinate the day-to-day activation and delivery of the Swallowcliffe Children's Precinct.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with children, families, community members and key stakeholders.
  • Facilitate community engagement activities that capture local voices and support community-led action.
  • Support and strengthen partnerships across government, education, health and community sectors.
  • Coordinate and support community events, workshops and initiatives.
  • Facilitate meetings and working groups and contribute to collective decision-making processes.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen community participation, leadership and collaboration.
  • Monitor, evaluate and report on community initiatives and outcomes.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, project delivery and continuous improvement activities.
  • Advocate for community priorities and support initiatives that improve outcomes for children and families.
What you will bring

You are a collaborative and relationship-focused professional who is passionate about community development and creating positive change.

You will also bring:
  • Experience in community development, community engagement, social planning, project coordination or a related field.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build trusted relationships with diverse community members and partners.
  • Experience facilitating groups, workshops, meetings or community consultation activities.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to work autonomously while managing multiple priorities and projects.
  • A proactive and solutions-focused approach to achieving outcomes.
  • Experience working in partnership environments and navigating complex stakeholder relationships.
  • Qualifications in Community Development, Social Work, Human Services, Social Sciences or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
  • Experience working within place-based, collective impact or community-led initiatives will be highly regarded.
What’s in it for you?

At the City of Playford, you will join a supportive and collaborative organisation that values people, purpose and community impact.

In return, you will enjoy:

  • Meaningful work that directly contributes to better outcomes for children and families.
  • The opportunity to help shape and influence one of Playford's most significant community initiatives.
  • Working alongside passionate community leaders, schools, government agencies and service providers.
  • A supportive team culture where collaboration, innovation and continuous learning are encouraged.
