Job summary

Downer is seeking a Sustainment Maintenance Support Lead in Adelaide to oversee maintenance governance for defence capabilities. You will coordinate across SDACSPO, ensure compliance with Defence policy, and lead cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑quality sustainment outcomes.

You will drive risk-informed decisions, manage contractor schedules and maintenance data, and engage with stakeholders to align with strategic priorities and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience in maintenance governance or Integrated Logistics Support in Defence or regulated environment.
• Knowledge of maintenance management frameworks and asset management.
• Experience reviewing contractor plans, schedules, and certification matrices.
• Ability to anticipate risks and advise senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide governance and oversight of maintenance activities across SDA assets; track planned maintenance and investigate deferred activities.
• Advise the Integrated Product Support Manager on issues, risks and practical solutions aligned with strategic intent.
• Review facilities, infrastructure and Government Furnished Materiel for compliance with Defence policy and licensing.
• Oversee maintenance data, calibration requirements and contractor use of Government Furnished Materiel.
• Govern maintenance technical data, updates, and consolidation of MRT data against contractor schedules.

Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia's future. Downer Professional Services comprises of our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice, and Team Downer, which partners with CASG and NSSG as a major service provider to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for clients across Defence and National Security. We currently have an opportunity for a Sustainment Maintenance Support Lead in Adelaide, South Australia, on a full time basis basis, supporting maintenance governance across SDACSPO capabilities.

What You'll Do

This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities include:

• Provide governance and oversight of maintenance activities across SDA assets, track planned maintenance and proactively investigate deferred activities.
• Maintain strong stakeholder relationships and advise the Integrated Product Support Manager on maintenance issues, risks and practical solutions aligned with strategic intent.
• Review maintenance facilities, infrastructure and Government Furnished Materiel to ensure they remain fit for purpose and compliant with Defence policy, statutory obligations, licensing, certification and registration requirements.
• Oversee maintenance personnel, inventory, high-risk plant, support and test equipment registers, calibration requirements and contractor use of Government Furnished Materiel.
• Govern maintenance technical data and contractor documentation, including Maintenance Manual updates, Technical Order redlines, configuration baselines, ILSAR updates, acquisition-to-sustainment reviews and consolidation of MRT data against contractor schedules.

What You'll Bring

• Demonstrated experience in maintenance governance, sustainment support or Integrated Logistics Support within a complex Defence or similarly regulated environment.
• Strong knowledge of maintenance management frameworks, technical data governance, asset management and compliance obligations for facilities, infrastructure and high-risk plant.
• Experience reviewing contractor plans, schedules, RACI arrangements, certification matrices, fatigue management plans and maintenance performance data.
• Ability to anticipate and analyse maintenance risks, identify workable solutions and provide clear advice to senior stakeholders.
• Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and document review skills, with the ability to work across acquisition, sustainment, engineering, supply and contractor teams.

Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain an AGSVA Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
