Job summary

Gamuda Australia, part of the Gamuda Group, is seeking an experienced Sustainability Manager to drive environmental performance across major infrastructure and construction projects in Australia. You will lead sustainability strategies from design through delivery, collaborate with project leadership, design, construction and environmental teams, and ensure compliance with environmental commitments.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience as Sustainability Manager or senior role in construction/ infrastructure.
• Experience on large-scale infrastructure and major construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of sustainability management systems and reporting frameworks.
• Experience delivering carbon reduction, waste management, energy efficiency and sustainable procurement.
• Familiarity with Green Star, IS ratings and sustainability certification processes.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills.

We are seeking an experienced Sustainability Manager to join our team and support the delivery of major infrastructure and construction projects across Australia.

The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for a sustainability manager to play a key role in driving sustainability performance across major construction projects, ensuring environmental commitments, sustainability targets and project requirements are successfully achieved.

Working closely with project leadership, design, construction, engineering and environmental teams, you will lead the implementation of sustainability strategies and initiatives throughout the project lifecycle, from design and procurement through to construction and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development, implementation and monitoring of project sustainability management plans, strategies and objectives.
• Drive sustainability initiatives across major infrastructure and construction projects, ensuring compliance with contractual, regulatory and environmental requirements.
• Manage sustainability reporting, performance metrics, audits and project sustainability targets.
• Work collaboratively with design and construction teams to identify opportunities to improve sustainability outcomes.
• Support initiatives relating to carbon reduction, energy efficiency, water conservation, waste minimisation and resource recovery.
• Monitor and report on greenhouse gas emissions, embodied carbon and other relevant sustainability indicators.
• Promote sustainable procurement practices and engage with subcontractors and suppliers to improve sustainability performance.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will be an experienced sustainability professional with a strong understanding of sustainability management within major construction, infrastructure or engineering projects.

You will bring

• Demonstrated experience in a Sustainability Manager or senior sustainability role within the construction, engineering or infrastructure sector.
• Experience working on large-scale infrastructure, rail, transport, building or major construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of sustainability management systems, reporting frameworks and relevant environmental and sustainability requirements.
• Experience implementing carbon reduction, waste management, energy efficiency and sustainable procurement initiatives.
• Familiarity with Green Star, Infrastructure Sustainability (IS) ratings and sustainability certification processes.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills.
