Job summary

Direct Care Resources in South-East Queensland is seeking flexible Support Workers to assist children, young people, and participants with disabilities. The role involves traveling within Toowoomba and surrounding areas, supporting daily living, transportation, and personal care.

You will work a structured 7-day swing roster with opportunities for additional shifts, training subsidised, and a pathway for formal qualifications.

Qualifications

  • Must hold (Completed, In progress or enrolled) a Minimum Certificate IV qualification in Community Services, Disability, Youth Work or Mental Health.
  • Current QLD Driver's Licence (Open or P2) is required.
  • CPR and First Aid certificates are required.
  • Blue Card & NDIS Workers Screening Check are required.
  • NDIS Workers Orientation Module and Child Safety Division clearance are required.

Responsibilities

  • Support daily living activities including housekeeping, cooking, and personal care.
  • Assist with community access and transportation (school, appointments, activities).
  • Apply trauma-informed approaches to support participants' emotional and behavioural needs.
  • Complete shift notes, handovers, and incident reports.
  • Safely administer medication per plan and policy.
  • Travel within the Southwest Region to support participants.

We also welcome candidates who are available and interested in picking up cover/additional shifts as needed. We are seeking Support Workers who are flexible and happy to travel to support participants in Toowoomba and surrounding areas.

About Direct Care Resources

With over 25 years of experience, Direct Care Resources is a trusted care provider in South-East Queensland. We prioritise the health, safety, and well-being of our participants, specialising in support for SIL (Supported Independent Living) houses and Child Protection Services.

As a Support Worker, you will assist participants with challenging behaviours, support individuals with physical, intellectual, or psychiatric disabilities, and provide compassionate care to vulnerable children and young people under Child Protection Orders.

Your Responsibilities
  • Support daily living activities including housekeeping, cooking, grocery shopping, personal care, and hygiene while maintaining safe routines and appropriate boundaries.
  • Assist children, young people, and participants with community access and transportation (school, appointments, activities).
  • Use trauma-informed approaches to support emotional and behavioural needs in line with individual care and behaviour support plans.
  • Complete mandatory shift notes, handovers, and incident reports accurately in accordance with Child Safety and industry standards.
  • Safely administer medication as per policy and individual care plans.
  • Be willing to travel within the Southwest Region and support participants with community access.

The successful candidate will also have flexible availability, including sleepovers, overnights, weekends, and varied shift times.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must hold (Completed, In progress or enrolled) Minimum Certificate IV qualification in:

  • Community Services
  • Disability
  • Youth Work
  • Mental Health
  • Or a closely related field

Additional requirements:

  • Current QLD Driver's Licence (Open or P2)
  • Reliable vehicle with registration and comprehensive insurance
  • Eligibility to work in Australia (Passport/Birth Certificate)
  • Current CPR and First Aid certificates
  • Valid Blue Card & NDIS Workers Screening Check
  • NDIS Workers Orientation Module
  • Child Safety Division - LCS2 Clearance
